  • Charleston SC Wedding Photographer: Hi! I'm Aly Greer, a wedding photographer for Charleston and worldwide. I share love stories, wedding tips, and photoshop magic. I love my family, coffee, donuts and dogs! Do we have anything in common?

Photography in the Modern South: What does the "modern south" mean? For me, it means tradition with a twist. Think front porches, comfort food, bowties, nice manners...meets urban farming, pinterest projects, thrift store shopping, breaking the rules...and top it off with a little splash of "bless their heart." I live in Charleston (definitely the modern south), but am also available to travel worldwide.

Be sure to check us out on Facebook and Instagram to see the most up-to-date photos! Thanks for stopping by!

Nashville Family Photography: Noah & Liam

When I met Noah & Liam’s mom Hannah for coffee and she told me she had twin boys, I was pretty excited. They were my first set of twins to photograph, and they couldn’t have been sweeter! We spent the morning wandering through Shelby Park for our shoot. Here are a few of the images from the day….

In the photo below {Liam on the left and Noah on the right}, I may or may not have been rattling my keys, making explosion noises, or saying peek-a-boo hundreds of times. 🙂 You gotta do what you gotta do to get two babies’ attention!

Such an adorable family!

Happy Tuesday!

Beaufort, SC Wedding : Katey and Tyler

“We have been dating for 5 years and 2 months!” Katey told me as she got her hair curled. I have said it before, but I love hearing other people’s love stories! Katey and Tyler were so fun to watch on their wedding day and it was evident how well they knew and loved each other.

If I had to describe this wedding in one phrase, it would be “the wedding you want to pin.” {As in pinterest!} Katey is an amazing DIY bride that thought out so many cool details. Their wedding was in beautiful Beaufort, South Carolina and was full of oak trees and southern touches. An added bonus? I got to shoot the wedding with my sister Rachel, an awesome photographer herself!

We started out the day meeting at the salon where some of the bridal party was getting their hair done. These stylists were fast– I was amazed at how quick they could do an updo!

I think these photos below prove that you don’t really feel like a bride until the moment you put on the veil….

Katey, you were gorgeous!!!! I can’t even stand it.

The bridesmaid’s gift was handkerchiefs that Katey had embroidered with a special image unique to each bridesmaid. So unique and different…loved it!

Nothing like Southern gentlemen in bowties….looking good guys! 🙂

The ceremony itself was sweet and full of laughter, specialized vows, and even making it “facebook official” haha. 🙂 I loved that everything reflected their personalities!

Such a beautiful bride. Tyler you are a lucky guy!

Katey created the guestbook herself out of pallet wood and plans to hang it in their home. So creative!

I have to say that Southern Graces did an amazing job on the food, flowers, and wedding coordinating! Wunderful Cupcakes did the cupcake tower which looked awesome as well!

There was some amazing dancing going on at this reception- looked like everyone had a great time!

Katey and Tyler- hope y’all had an amazing cruise ( or as Katey said…”I’M ON A BOAT!”). 🙂 I had such a great time getting to share in your special day!

Nashville Baby Photography – Lilly 6 month

Despite the rainy weather forcing us to reschedule several times, Lilly’s 6-month shoot ended up being a lovely warm morning. This little lady has such a sweet personality, and her mama is so creative! Lilly’s mom Nicole had the idea to get balloons and a mirror to use during the shoot (along with some adorable outfits and hats!), and it turned out great! So thankful for clients who have such fun ideas! 🙂

Happy Thursday!

J Emerson - You REALLY do good work. You capture the emotion, the love, the totality of being abandoned with the other one loved – not just a face. you “see” the beauty of the soul within that God has given. You give a poignant snapshot of life at its best. Reach for the stars, girl, you will go far.

Nashville Wedding: Hanna & Dakota

They are back from their honeymoon, so although I’m not quite done with editing, I had to share some favorite photos of Hanna and Dakota’s fun vintage Nashville wedding!

Hanna, you are gorgeous. Seriously.

Dakota was channeling a little Johnny Cash with the all-black ensemble. Perfect for  a Nashville wedding. 🙂

Hanna and Dakota were the ultimate laid back bride and groom, and their friends were no different. When we couldn’t take a group photo in front of a graffiti wall as planned, they suggested the side of this building and made it work! This is why their wedding party was fun:

The reception had some incredible details. Hand sewn cd cases, fabric pennants, vintage soda bottles. Love it all!

Love this moment below….

Hanna and Dakota had a photobooth, so I was able to snap a few fun photos when they made use of their props. 🙂

Fun wedding, fun reception! Hanna and Dakota- thanks for letting me be a part of your day!

Nashville Family Photography: The Bury Family

I love love love getting to photograph people I know. It is just a different dynamic when you photograph friends. As much as I try to get to know my clients previous to a shoot (which is why I beg ask them to have coffee beforehand), it is amazing to be able to photograph people that you love.

About 4 years ago, I became friends with Lindsay and Stefan. Fast forward a few years and we have been in each others weddings, travelled the world together, and I can definitely say that they are some of our dearest friends in Nashville. I also have gotten to know her family pretty well over the years, and they are amazing. So when Linds told me that she and her siblings were giving their parents a photoshoot for Christmas, I was pumped.

Despite the fact that about 150 high school kids in prom dresses and tuxedos showed up to Percy Warner about 15 minutes after we started, the kids (and adults) did amazingly well. {Note to self: avoid the park on Saturday nights during prom season.}

These next two are probably some of my favorites. So funny!

Just had to share some of my favorites before the weekend. Happy Friday! 🙂
