Spain Part I: Mallorca

We just got back from our 10-day trip to Spain, and while I am still a little out of it due to the time change I could not wait to start editing and posting these pictures. We went to Spain in part so Hunter could run a marathon there, (He has a goal to run a marathon on every continent except Antarctica….so far North America, South America, and now Europe are completed!) and in part for vacation. {Note: This is part 1 of a 3-part blog series for the 3 areas we visited.}

Our first stop was the island of Mallorca for the marathon. It is a Spanish island in the Mediterranean and is gorgeous, even in the winter. We started off in the little town of Adratx, and stayed in a old house-turned bed and breakfast. (And it had amazing breakfast).

Probably my favorite thing about the island of Mallorca was that there were sheep everywhere! I may or may not have made Hunter stop the car, oh about 93 times, so I could get out and photograph the sheep.:)

Despite a storm the night before, the day of the marathon had perfect weather, and my studly husband came in 12th!

Then we were off to the town of Port de Soller….which was insanely gorgeous. Apparently this is where all the Germans vacation, because I am pretty sure that we came across more people from Germany than from Spain!

And last but not least…these little beauties. Ensaimadas were fed to us at breakfast, as a snack, and as dessert…which didn’t bother me one bit. These may have to be a little baking experiment in the near future….

Stay tuned for the next stop on our trip…Barcelona…later this week!
